Travel Diaries: An Exhilarating Road Trip To Niagara Falls

By Dreamtechie

Apart from exploring the fascinating wonders across the globe, traveling gives me a sense of peace. I get connected to my soul and feel rejuvenated with the entire experience of traveling. This is exactly what I felt when I decided to explore Niagara Falls. Just the thought of visiting the wonder of the world gave me an adrenaline rush and with my backpack I started on an exciting road trip to the Niagara Falls.

I haven't done solo traveling yet and by luck, I have got a fabulous partner who makes every trip entertaining and terrific (especially by clicking captivating pictures). So, we started our enticing journey on Friday morning and with two halts we reached Niagara by late evening.

It is said that the view of enchanted falls is beautiful after dusk, as the falls are elegantly illuminated with rainbow colors. Hence, we decided to view the falls at night and trust me the closer we walked towards the waterfall, the air around us was refreshing to the senses.

Night View of Niagara Falls

I was dumbfounded viewing the majestic, captivating and romantic waterfalls which were surreal and made me speechless. You could spend hours just watching the falls and hearing the whooshing sounds of the pristine water falling on the rocks.

I was lost in the magical view of the falls and just didn't feel like leaving the arresting place.

Next morning with quick selfies, we took our car and headed towards the falls with the same excitement as the night before. It is interesting to note that Niagara Falls equally belongs to the two beautiful countries United State of America and Canada.

The majestic falls is on the international border of Ontario and New York and has an amazing view from both the countries, though many say the view from Canada is spectacular (visiting Canada is on my bucket list).

Reaching the falls, the first thing I could notice was the turquoise blue or emerald hue water dancing elegantly on the borders of America and Canada and forming a whirlpool (I love the soothing color, reminding me of Mauritius beaches).

The two countries are connected by the Rainbow Bridge, you can take a stroll and take a stunning view of the falls.

Back in the 16th century, the first people to see Niagara Falls were the nomadic hunters whom the Neutral Indian tribes 'Onguiaahra' followed and made Niagara their homes.

Niagara originates from the tribes 'Onguiaahra' which means ' Thunder of Waters '. Later the French traders were the first Europeans to visit the Niagara Falls and depicted their visual experience in a painting.

Three lavish looking falls- Horseshoe Falls, American Falls, and Bridal veil Falls come together to form the Niagara falls and give a striking view that would take your breath away. After treating our eyes, we decided to get closer to the falls by hopping onto Maid of the Mist boat tour.

Clad in blue raincoats the view of the falls from the ferry was awestruck. Believe me my jaw dropped watching the spectacular beauty.

The moment of the day was when we got drenched in the sprinkling water of the American falls and Horseshoe falls- it was a thrilling and a lifetime experience. After the boat tour, we took a stroll near the American falls and something romantic caught my interest, I saw couples exchanging vows, having wedding photo shoots. Also, the sweetest part was an old aged couple was celebrating their remarriage with families and friends (isn't that cute?)

I missed the Cave of the Winds, which is another fabulous spot behind the Bridal veil falls, where you can feel the power of the falls. You could easily find plenty of Indian restaurants nearby which would make you feel closer to home.

I took beautiful memories back with me and I still have the alluring picture of the magnificent falls. The magic of traveling is truly felt when you fill your soul with adventures and memories. Do plan your next trip to this heavenly place.

As we had a trip to the city that never sleeps- New York City, we drove back the same day to the NYC and visited the Central Park to view the Spring cherry blossoms (another fabulous treat to the eyes).
