Transsion Holdings Becomes India’s Fifth Largest Mobile Handset Player

According to a report on India’s Mobile Phone market for Q1 2018 by Counterpoint Research, Transsion Holdings has emerged as the fifth largest player in the mobile phone industry by capturing 4 percent market share in Q1, 2018.

Transsion Holdings operates under five different brands- itel MobilesTecno MobilesInfinix MobilesSpice Mobiles and oraimo in India. While itel and Tecno mobiles are sold exclusively in the offline market while Infinix operates in the online market giving the company edge in both online and offline markets.

Transsion has created a robust pan-India presence with the help of a deep distribution network of over 1 lakh retailers and 3,000 plus channel partners, enabling the company to cater to the length and breadth of the country.

Transsion India also introduced its after-sales service brand, “Carlcare”, in addition to launching its one COCO (company-owned, company-controlled) service center in India with over 1,000 service touch points for all Transsion brands. It is this ownership of the end-to-end customer journey, both before and after purchase, which has helped in delivering an unparalleled ownership experience.

itel, since its launch in April 2016 has captured almost 9% market share in India. itel is all poised build a strong base for its smartphones in India with regular launches of feature-rich smartphones. Tecno has been quite aggressive and is launching smartphones under the Camon series. Incidentally, Tecno has also partnered with IPL team Kings XI Punjab to boost its presence in the market.

Infinix, on the other hand, is the online smartphone brand of TRANSSION India and has launched the Hot S3 recently.  Transsion Holdings is now looking to increase its market share by targeting the sub Rs 10,000 price point which is the heated segment in the country right now.
