Trademark hints at Oppo Find X’s successor

Oppo Find X is all set to get a successor of its own, and a recently filed trademark hints at its name. Neither going with the logical Find X2, or Find Y for that matter which will possibly hint at a major upgrade, the Chinese manufacturer has decided to skip a step and call it the Oppo Find Z.

For the uninitiated, Oppo Find X grabbed a lot of eyeballs last year at its launch, thanks to its one-of-a-kind bezel-less display with a pop-up motorized selfie camera.

The trademark has been filed with the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO), which clearly mentions the name of the device to be 'Find Z'.

While the design and hardware specifications of the upcoming smartphone are yet unknown, speculations suggest a pin-hole cut-out selfie camera will override the previous generation's pop-up design. This will also solve the issue faced by its predecessor, wherein concerns regarding the life of the motorized camera unit were raised. Chipset upgrade is expected as well - Snapdragon 855 instead of 845. Other expectations include a 10x optical zoom, along with water resistance and in-display fingerprint scanner - features that one expects from a 2019 flagship device.

If we are lucky enough, the upcoming device could make an appearance at Mobile World Congress later this month.
