Sri Lanka is receiving positive volumes of recognition globally after the crisis has improved, said Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau (SLTPB) Chairman Chalaka Gajabahu at the 11th edition of the ‘Sancharaka Udawa’ which concluded on Saturday at the BMICH.
He said that this is an amazing achievement and a huge turnaround in just two years. This positive vibe along with all the projects that they are doing now will help Sri Lanka in a great way to achieve their arrival target of 2.3 million plus tourists for 2023.
“This will overrun Sri Lanka’s tourism history’s best achievement of 2.3 million arrivals recorded in 2018.”
This year’s edition saw the participation of more than 10,000 visitors and included participants from outbound tourism sectors. The event provided networking opportunities for industry newcomers and veterans, along with an award ceremony recognizing the best stall creations and concluded with a celebratory gathering.
To foster stronger ties between industry players and governmental bodies, tourism-related Government Departments like the Department of Wildlife Conservation and Tourist Police were provided complimentary stalls with several universities, including Colombo, Uva Wellassa, Kelaniya, Sabaragamuwa, and Rajarata to encourage student interaction with industry professionals.
This gathering offers a unique opportunity for local and regional tourism entrepreneurs to showcase their offerings and forge meaningful connections.
The two-day event was organised by the Sri Lanka Association of Inbound Tour Operators (SLAITO) and supported by the Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau (SLTPB).
