Guest Post - How To Restrain A Witch
Hello everyone! I am so pleased to be able to write a guest post for this blog and share some little pieces of myself and how/why I write. Today I would like to speak about my main character Faith Scott, who is the last witch in the world in my paranormal romance series.
A witch is a very interesting character to write about. A person with the ability to use magic can go awry if there are no limitations on what they can do and how they can do it.
For instance, I had Faith going up against an alchemist, but Faith is smart and a strong witch. How the heck does he one up her? Well, besides the fact that Isaac is older and stronger I placed a new…tool into my story.
Witches rope. I can recall the evening I thought it up. Holding a witch captive cannot be an easy task in all books. Considering I already had Salt Whips as characters that went after witches, similar to slayers for vampires, I thought: salt water.
Why salt water? In many books (fiction and non) salt water is used to sort of…cleanse the pallet, or spell. Nullify it in a manner of speaking. Then I was looking up different types of rope.
I was first looking up rope because I needed some for a circle I was going to cast and I found that depending on what the rope is made out of it could make all the difference.
Therefore that lead me to the thought that three different types of rope laced together then dipped in salt water could disable a witch from using magic. Then the thought of it being the perfect way to explain why so many witches were burned during the Salem witch trials would make a perfect addition to the story!
I love when one little idea becomes something massive for a story. It just laid out so perfectly and fit the book neatly. It is when I have ideas like this that I realize why I love writing. It’s that creative nature to bring to life something new and different to a world so crazy.
I hope I have helped to explain a tiny part of my process and why I love writing. Please pick up a copy of Vampyre Kisses if you want to learn more about Faith, Trent, Zou Tai and the rest of the crew from The Last Witch Series.

Thoughts
I do love a good witch book! Even with Halloween gone and Christmas right around the corner, I want to continue my journey into everything paranormal. This book looks amazing. The cover is pretty cool. It's just all around awesome. And what a guest post! I love digging a little bit deeper into the mind of a writer. It's amazing to see how their thought process works sometimes, don't you agree?
So... what do YOU think?
