Tour of the week: Borghese Gallery and Garden Tour

At the Borghese Gardens and Gallery, you can dive headfirst into the creative past of Rome and discover the Eternal City from the vantage point of some of the world’s most famous artists. The gardens and the Villa Borghese offer the perfect escape from the busy city center without having to travel to far to find some lush greenery.

Borghese Gallery and Gardens

You’ll get to skip the line and head straight inside the Borghese Gallery to marvel at the incredible masterpieces on display. Keep your eyes peeled for works by Caravaggio, Raphael, and Titian.

Outside, you can stroll through the pretty gardens and learn all about the elegant grounds that were once the country retreat of Cardinal Scipione Borghese. The Cardinal was a keen collector of art and had many Bernini’s and Caravaggio’s to his name, most of which are now on display in the gallery.

Some of the most famous works in his collection include “Sacred and Profane Love” by Titian, Raphael’s “Entombment of Christ”, and several other masterpieces by Rubens and Barocci.
Other works on display include a series of marble sculptures that were incredibly popular in Rome back in their heyday. Look out for Bernini’s “Rape of Proserpine” and “David”, and Antonio Canova’s “Pauline Bonaparte”.

Villa Borghese

Once you’ve got your fill of art, it’s time to move onto the opulent Villa Borghese. This is one of the most popular green spots in the city and draws in visitors from far and wide who want some respite from the hustle and bustle of city life.

As you explore the grounds, you’ll get to see the amazing plant life that grows here and marvel at the stunning views of the city from the Pincio Terrace – one of the best vantage points in Rome.

The Borghese Gallery is home to some of the most iconic artworks in the world, and seeing them in person is an incredibly memorable experience that won’t be forgotten quickly. This immersive tour gives you the chance to discover these works as well as learn more about the artists that made them.

History and art lovers will thoroughly enjoy the accompanying commentary to the tour, plus there’s no queuing involved so you can maximise your time spent at this popular attraction. And, once you’ve cooed over Caravaggio, you can stroll around the picturesque Villa Borghese for some quiet time before heading back to the busy city center.
