Tour De Laoac Off Road Challenge – I Finished 2nd Place

By Thesilentpal @thesilentpal

An invitation from a friend/relative/fitness student that there will be a Tour de Laoac Off Road Challenge on the berth of 34th Annual Laoac Town Fiesta and Foundation Anniversary I immediately itch to join the said race and to finally let my towns people my talent in cycling too so I took a personal time out to work and made a days leave.

Before I was able to join the said race (March 2, 2014)  there is a story behind it and oh boy it was a tiring day for me. Let me tell it to you briefly by starting with after a shift from a 11pm to 8am I rested/sleep for like 2 hours or less then I had to play a must win basketball game in an ongoing Trend Micro Invitational Basketball League for Trenders and Ex-Trenders where we lost by 5 points by the way, it hurts us but its okay I moved on. On this game also we saw Marc Pingris taking a swim with his kids at the pool of the club house where our league is held so I took an epic photo opt with my Kababayan.

After the hoops action, its time for volleyball action with another set of friends, Trenders, Ex-Trenders and some celebs or singers like Jan Nieto, Harry Santos etc. who share the same passion and love for smash, dig, spike and receive action just for fun held this time at MFI (Meralco Foundation Institute)  that was like from 3pm to 8pm. After the game I had to sleep for 2 hours or less then it’s work time again, so I am on shift for 9 hours 11pm to 8am again until I finally gone to the bus terminal station of Dagupan Bus.

Our weekly volleyball game with friends just for love of spike, receive and dig.

With my bike with me already, I paid for the baggage (my bike) and hid home to Laoac. I was asleep the entire bus travel except on stop overs. When we were in Urdaneta, the bus did a left turn going to Manaoag and I said oh my gosh I need to be in Laoac before 2pm and that was 11:45AM at that time, but sh*t happens so I had to go home first in Borac, Manaoag where my wife is residing. I stayed for like 20 minutes and talked to my kids and went to Laoac riding my bike. I arrived at my cherished house in Kalongkong City and everyone is wondering why I am in cycling jersey until I announced that I will be joining the off road race then the rest is history.

And the race is on. In front of me is a pro racer so he is not qualified to get a prize but he still joined us together with Mark Julius “Kulot” Bordeos two or Laoac’s Pride in the recently concluded Ronda Pilipinas 2014 International.

After the race I finished 2nd place and on my left side, the guy in white jersey took the 1st place with 2 or 3 minutes advantage. I am so happy I finished 2nd and its my first time to show it to my fellow Lawakenians and I guess somebody were shocked on what I did here. They don’t expect me to win at all but hey I won runner up place you know. Hahaha!

After the race, my family arrived though they didn’t witness my sprinting finish they were so happy for me I placed 2nd and we have a money to buy burgers but sad to say I wasn’t able to receive the prize money and they promised that it will be on SB/Liga Night so I came but no awarding was done, then reschedule it on Balikbayan Night but it didn’t happened again. I was able to get my prize money after 3 days and I won Php800.00 and I am expecting like 2K or at least 1K but that’s okay. I know that Laoac is a young town and it was just fun after all. Thanks!
