Top Ways to Increase Your Happiness in 2019

By Twothirstytravellers @2thirstytrav

Can you believe we’re in the fourth quarter of 2018? If you’re like most people, you’re probably beginning to ramp up for the holiday season. Now is also the time to start reflecting on how your year has gone and where you’d like to be this time next year.

Many people are simply getting through the day and struggling while they do so. If you’re hoping to increase your happiness in 2019, here are some good ways to do it:

Cut out the toxic people

How many people do you have in your life that aren’t contributing to your overall happiness? Often, we assume we’re stuck with certain people simply because they’re old friends or even family members. But if you’re constantly feeling upset or angry after spending time with someone and they’re not adding any happiness to your life, it may be time to gradually decrease the amount of time you spend with them.

Do yourself a favor and begin cutting these toxic people out of your life. You’ll be surprised by how empowering and freeing this process really is.

Save for the things you want

I’m a big proponent of saving for your financial future. But so many people are putting all of their money away for a rainy day and never treating themselves to the things they want. If this sounds like you, now’s the time to enjoy the money you work so hard for. Whether you’ve always wanted a tuff stuff 4×4, a jeep trailer, or a designer handbag, set yourself some financial goals and make it happen.

Set some goals

Maybe you’ve always wanted to be a published author. Perhaps you’d love to learn a new language. Or maybe you’d simply like to lose the baby weight from your last child. Now’s the time to make a list of those secret goals you’ve never shared with anyone. Next, consider what you need in order to meet those goals. Maybe you need to talk to your partner about a good time for you to go to the gym or head out for a run while they watch the kids. Maybe you’d like to have an hour or two each day to start your first novel. Or perhaps you’d like to sign up for a language class so you can learn with other beginners.

The best goals are specific, time-sensitive, and actionable. Set yourself a realistic time frame so you know what you’re working toward.
