Top Ten Nonfiction Books Added to My TBR

By Curlygeek04 @curlygeek04

This week, I’m combining Top Ten Tuesday (this week’s topic: top ten books on my winter TBR) with Nonfiction November’s New to My TBR.

First, here are the nonfiction books I meant to read this month, and still plan to read:

  • We Were Eight Years in Power by Ta-Nehisi Coates
  • What Happened by Hillary Clinton
  • Love, Loss, and What We Ate by Padma Lakshmi
  • Born Survivors by Wendy Holden

Here are four new nonfiction books I’ve added to my TBR, thanks to this month’s event:

  • The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks by Rebecca Skloot, recommended by Sophisticated Dorkiness (about the unauthorized use of Lacks’ cells in medical research).
  • Code Girls by Liza Mundy, recommended by Musings of a Literary Wanderer (about the American women code-breakers of World War II)
  • The Brain That Changes Itself by Norman Doidge, recommended by Books are my Favourite and Best (about neuroplasticity and triumphs in brain science).
  • How Dare the Sun Rise by Sondra Uwiringiyamana, recommended by Based on a True Story (about a girl from the Democratic Republic of the Congo who survived a massacre, immigrated to America, and overcame her trauma through art and activism).

Finally, here are two books about communication, which I’m interested in learning more about:

  • If I Understood You, Would I Have This Look On My Face by Alan Alda (a recommendation from my mom)
  • Tell Me More: Stories about the Twelve Hardest Things I’m Learning to Say by Kelly Corrigan (picked up from NetGalley)

So those are the new nonfiction books on my TBR list.  Thanks to our hosts of Nonfiction November for a great event!  I hope you picked up some ideas for your reading list too.
