Top Ten “Best of 2023” Books I’d Like to Read in 2024

The topic of this week’s Top Ten Tuesday, hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl, is books we hope to receive as gifts. I decided to base my wish list on books that are showing up on the “best of 2023” lists.  Some of them I already wanted to read; I’m already a fan of David Grann, Nicole Chung, Rebecca Makkai, and Ann Patchett. The Last Animal was recommended by Modern Mrs. Darcy in the Summer Reading Guide, and Land of Milk and Honey was recommended by Jenny Lawson as part of her Fantastic Strangelings book club.

Fiction:

  • The Last Animal by Ramona Ausubel
  • I Have Some Questions for You by Rebecca Makkai
  • Land of Milk and Honey by C Pam Zhang
  • The Reformatory by Tananarive Due
  • Tom Lake by Ann Patchett
  • Chain Gang All Stars by Nana Kwame Adjei-Brenyah
  • The Heaven and Earth Grocery Store by James McBride
  • The Bee Sting by Paul Murray
