The most powerful tool that many employers seem to forget about is social media!  From Instagram to LinkedIn, social media gives you the opportunity to get as many employees and possible applicants in one place as possible.  Unfortunately, it can be hard to find a clear boundary in interactions if they start on social media, but you should keep in mind that any interaction with a possible employee should be business-oriented and responsibly worded. 

Word of Mouth

Word of mouth is a powerful tool!  Although it’s unfortunately difficult to predict, word of mouth gives you the opportunity to talk to as many possible workers as possible and evolve how you hire.  Unfortunately, it’s difficult to spread the word of mouth if your office is smaller.  Getting employees, loved ones, and more to talk about how your company is hiring can only get you so far without the aid of these other tools.

Everyone’s heard an advertisement in a podcast: but have you considered putting this to use for talent acquisition?  Getting your company’s hiring needs to be announced on these will give you the chance to connect with the applicants your business needs.  You should still be aware of the main type of listener of each podcast.  For instance, if you’re trying to hire workers for a toy design firm, you might not want to advertise on a podcast like The Order of the Good Death.  Although this is an incredible podcast: it might not serve your needs.  

Employee Referrals

The easiest way to find qualified and awesome workers are through employee referrals!  This form of talent acquisition allows your current employees to bring new ones to you.  Usually, you should offer some kind of reward, like a bonus for employees whose referrals stay for the 90-day mark.  This gives you the chance to find the best workers possible and encourages your employees to send more people through.

SEO has been used in thousands of ways in the last twenty years: but many employers forget how awesome it is when it’s time for them to hire.  Why not put these fantastic tools to use so you can find new employees?  This means using SEO not only in job ads but also on your careers pages, on social media, and more.  Let employees find you instead of having to fight tooth and nail to get to them.
