Top 5 albums to look forward to in 2025

The start of a New Year is always one of excitement and there’s already plenty to look forward to in 2025. Will the Oasis tour be worthy of the hype (and increased ticket prices)? Will the pop stars continue to reign supreme? What will follow ‘Brat Summer’? And will Neil Young continue to flip-flop on whether he’ll play Glastonbury Festival again?

There are sure to be plenty of albums to delight our ears over the next 12 months – both from the most exciting new acts and old favourites. Below are just five we’re looking forward to…

Lambrini Girls – ‘Who Let the Dogs Out’
Out on 10 January 2025

We don’t have to wait too long for what’s looking like it will be one of 2025’s most vital listens – the debut record from Lambrini Girls. Already an incendiary live force, this album will find the Brighton punks continuing their quest to find a better and more inclusive world for all of us – even if the odds are stacked against them. They’ll happily rise to this challenge.

Sharon Van Etten & The Attachment Theory – ‘Sharon Van Etten & The Attachment Theory’
Out on 7 February 2025

Sharon Van Etten makes a welcome return with the first album she’s written and recorded as part of a band. We’re expecting to hear more of the same heartfelt and honest, almost confessional, storytelling as on previous records but now with an even more stirring sound. We’re expecting goosebumps throughout.

Bartees Strange – ‘Horror’
Out on 14 February 2025

Here’s a Valentine’s Day treat for us all, the third album from the polymath singer-songwriter Bartees Strange. A record about facing – and overcoming – the fears that come with living as a young, queer, black man in rural America, this record will find Bartees continue to merge his love of hip-hop, indie and house while delivering all-important messages of hope.

Divorce – ‘Drive to Goldenhammer’
Out on 7 March 2025

Signed to Capitol, Divorce have established themselves as the indie darlings of the press and have a sold-out Islington Academy show coming up to boot. Combining timeless melodies with chamber pop elements, this record will find them considering how much we change as we try to find a place in today’s divided world.

Ben Kweller – ‘Cover the Mirrors’
Out on 30 May 2025

Recently hailed as ‘One of the great American songwriters’ by none other than Jack Antonoff (Bleachers, Taylor Swift, St. Vincent), Ben Kweller’s first record since the passing of his 16-year-old son Dorian Zev – released on Dorian’s birthday – promises to be an emotionally raw listen. Ben says making music ‘was the only way I could find peace in my earth-shattering grief- and lead single ‘Optimystic’ captures this all too well.

All this and we haven’t even mentioned the new records from Doves, Charli XCX, Basia Bulat, the Manics… Which albums are you most excited for in 2025?
