Has your child shown an interest in learning how to play guitar? Music is very important for children because it helps them build language development, enhances their creativity, improves grades in schools, and it makes them look cool in front of their friends (builds confidence). If you have searched the Internet, there is a ton of information on playing guitars and it can be quite overwhelming if you don’t know what you are looking to get for your child. There are so many options available on the market from online lessons, dvd lessons, traditional lessons, and free stuff all over YouTube.

Free vs Paid Guitar Lessons
Free lessons are great but most beginner students have no clue on where to begin and it often leaves them frustrated. You know your child best and how they learn so today I wanted to share with you three courses that I think your tween or teenager would be able to use to learn how to how to play guitar in a few short weeks. When purchasing the courses, I highly recommend that you have your child devote 20 to 30 minutes each night practicing the guitar. The only way to learn how to play an instrument is to practice over and over again.

Summary
Like I mentioned earlier, free lessons are great but they don’t provide any real benefit to your child. If your child is serious about learning how to play guitar, I highly recommend one of these three courses. My husband has been playing guitar for a very long time and he influenced my own children to try learning how to play an instrument for at least a year.
Most of my long term readers might be aware that my daughter was born deaf and wears cochlear implants. She came home one afternoon towards the end of her 5th grade year saying that she wanted to participate in band and learn an instrument. I was a bit hesitant because I thought that she wouldn’t be able to hear well enough to play an instrument. She has amazed me with her ability to learn how to read music and play an instrument. She has been playing the clarinet for 6 years and it has greatly benefited her academically.
Did you learn how to play an instrument when you were a child? Is so, what instrument did you play?
