Top 10 Ways to Turn a Negative Into a Positive- by Adrienne Morgan

By Russell Deasley @Worlds_Top_10

Have you noticed that some people are just positive in their attitudes and others are not? Why do positive people seem happier?

Negative thinking has been linked to stress, burnout, anxiety, depression and more. It is so important to learn how to harness those ugly tricks our minds play on us. When a negative thought pops into your head, use it as a cue to replace it with a positive one.

Here are a few that I find extremely helpful.

1. When you're around negative people, and cannot remove yourself from the situation, use it as a chance to practice tolerance and compassion.

2. If a negative situation arises that you cannot change, use it as an opportunity to practice acceptance.

3. If you hate waiting in line, use it as an opportunity to meditate. You'll find that you look forward to it.

4. If someone lets you down, it's an opportunity to practice forgiveness.
Remember, forgiveness frees you from resentment, which, like worry is a useless emotion.

5. If you fail at something you care about, it's a chance to learn a valuable lesson.
Every success story in the business world begins with a failure or two. It's better than never having tried.

6. If you're delayed for an important meeting, it's an opportunity to practice patience.

Try taking deep breaths.

7. If your dog 'really' eats your assignment, it's a chance to start with a clean slate... and do it better.

8. If you receive negative feedback, it's an opportunity to learn.
And not just in the workplace. With your relationships, your hobbies, etc.

9. If you're feeling stuck on a project, it's a chance to think creatively.
I find making lists, jotting down ideas and sketches keeps my creativity going.

10. Look at every situation as an opportunity to grow, especially negative ones.

Good luck and God bless!
