Top 10 Tuesday: Top Ten Most Memorable Secondary Characters

By Appraisingpages @appraisjngpages

So we realize that we’re a little late to the game here for Top 10 Tuesdays put on by The Broke and The Bookish but we thought, hey, better late than never!  Top 10 Tuesdays is a really fun meme that dozens of different book bloggers participate in every week and we decided to join in the fun.

This week is the Top 10 Secondary Characters, meaning not one of the main characters and especially one that never has their own POV in the book.  Here are our Top 10 (in no particular.

1.  Stormie Llewlyn from Odd Thomas

Odd Thomas helped us fall in love with Stormie Llewlyn just like he did, and we never regretted it.  Stormie forever!

2.  Hunter from Delirium

Hunter didn’t have very much screen time in the books but he’s the first Unnatural (a term for homosexual in the series) Lena ever meets and she quickly develops and kinship with him and we did too.

3.  Calvin from A Wrinkle In Time

Alright, so the Murry children are great and everything but nothing beats the sweet affection and comic relief that Calvin provides.  I will forever ship Meg and Calvin.

4.  Thomas from Anna Dressed In Blood

We loved that in the end the nerdy guy gets the hottest girl in school.  The geeks shall inherit the Earth!

5.  Finnick Odair from The Hunger Games

Finnick. Oh, Finnick.  How you have our hearts.  We started out thinking he was arrogant and kinda creepy (his nearly naked outfits) but his secret romance with Annie has us wishing he had his own series.

6.  Patrick from The Perks of Being a Wallflower

Patrick provided lighthearted and comic relief to a heavy coming-of-age story and offered nothing but support to his friends and family going through the worst of times.  We all wish we had had a friend like Patrick in high school.

7.  Thomas Wayne from Flashpoint

Everyone knows that Thomas and Martha Wayne die early in Bruce Wayne’s life and that’s partly why he becomes The Batman.  In Flashpoint we get a glimpse into what would the future would like if something else had happened that night outside the opera house.  Thomas Wayne starts out even more gruff and dismissive than his son but in the end shows us the ultimate vulnerability of a father’s love.

8.  Carlisle from Twilight

We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again: we’re twi-hards.  But I will say that I would much rather read a book from Carlisle’s perspective.  The multi-lingual, intelligent, and caring patriarch of the Cullen family deserves his own storyline.

9.  Lissa from Vampire Academy

We loved Lissa because even though she had power over Rose she always treated her as an equal.  She became a very strong person politically in the books and we loved how she supported Rose 100%.  She and Christian also make the greatest couple!

10.  Kat and Denny Hall from If I Stay

They are the perfect parents.  Instead of scaring away their daughter’s boyfriend, they embrace him and instantly making him a part of the family, bonding over music.  They warm up a very cold story and help create a connection with the main character, Mia, that supersedes their early deaths in the book.
