Top 10 Things to Make With Hot Dog Sausages
If you are looking for something fun to make the kids for dinner why not put a unusual spin on one of kids all time favorite meals. I am talking about tinned hot dog sausages like Ye Old Oak American Style, and Wikinger. Often called a frankfurter, there are some rather amazing meal ideas….

..
Tortellini with Frankfurters and cream
10 – Pasta Porker
If you want a quick and simple meal idea what not throw together some tortellini and hot dog sausages. Throw in some other ingredients as described in great detail in the image link and you have an almost instant meal!
A Crown Roast of Frankfurters
9 – A crown fit for a king
I have never seen this idea before nor will I probably ever get to taste it, but this kit kat cake style meal idea must be rather filling as they are quite long sausages! But it might be best shared between a family of 4.
Grill Hacker hot Dogs
8 – Grill’em
Have I been eating these tinned hot dog sausages wrong all this time? Well the Grill Hacker seems to think so and comes up with the crazy idea of grilling them. There is a great step by step making guide if you fancy making them in the image link.
Baked Beans In Tomato Sauce With Egg And Frankfurter On Rice
7 – Meal idea
Not only is this a great looking and sounding meal idea, but it is also cheap! For those families on a tight budget this will be great for a Friday night treat. But I would eat this any day of the week!
Bacon Wrapped Hot Dogs
6 – Bacon Wrapped
I have not made these mouth watering recipe higher up the list because there are some very creative recipes and things to make with our frankfurters that require a little more style than these. But that doesn’t mean I wouldn’t eat hundreds of them!
Octopus Sausages
5 – 8 Sausage Legs
In fact some of these have not got 8 legs, but I will not complain (although I kind of just did.) Just cut the ends off the frankfurters and make 4 straight slices, thus given you the 8 legs. Doing the face holes it just a bonus.
Hot Dog Bunnies
4 – Rabbit Power
There are some very fun and often rather silly ideas out there (most of which we have already seen!) but I think these are too cute not to get a mention. I am not sure what the black eyes are made from, but I would guess seeds of some kind.
Hot Dog Stocking
3 – Fillers
I am not 100% sure kids would love these, but I would eat a load of them regardless. Simply follow the cutting guide, stick them together using a wooden skewer stick and maybe some cream cheese to make the top! Weird idea for sure, but worth a try this Christmas.
Mummy Hot Dogs
2 – Mummys
Sadly Halloween has been and gone but I think this would still be fun to make regardless of the time of year you do it. Simply cut strips of puff pastry and hang them all over your hot dog sausage self to make them look like the bandages of a mummy! King tut never had it so good.
DIY Hot Dog Pasta
1 – Hot Dog Pasta
I tried making these the other day and i’ve got to be honest they really aren’t as simple as the image makes them out to be. The pasta kept breaking and the sausages ripping around the edges, but to be fair the ones that it work really did look and taste amazing. So if you have a patient and keen eye for threading a needle this might be a great meal idea.
