The listings are some of the most detailed listings you will find on any Hoobly alternatives. Generally, a detailed description, followed by the price of the item, contact number, website, and everything else can be found.
It’s one of the rarest sites like Hoobly that’s entirely signup-free. You do not need to register at all. You can view ads as well as post your own without registration. This also means posting ads is free as well. I also loved the ad-posting interface. Depending on the category of the ad, specific questions/placeholders come up. E.g. in the “for rent” category, it asks me the number of beds, sq ft., etc.

It’s also extremely active and most categories have listings that are just hours old! The listings are pretty basic without any specific placeholders. You get generic text-based descriptions that the lister has shared.
You can contact listers either from the provided contact information. There’s no in-built contact form. A “reply” button does exist but it simply shows the e-mail of the lister.

FreeAdsTime is available in Australia, the UK, Canada, India, and the US. Its product catalog will not disappoint. Everything that any other Hoobly alternative offers is available on FreeAdsTime as well.
The list includes, but isn’t limited to jobs, services, community, vehicles, pets, rentals, musicians, import/export etc.
Its search filters are impressive, and along with the primary search keyword, you can also set a min/maximum price for your searches. The listings resemble the listings on Hoobly with mostly a text description and an optional image. You can email ad posters directly, without signing up.
FreeAdsTime doesn’t have the traffic Hoobly boasts of and yet most of its listings and categories are well-populated.

If you calculate its cities and regions, in total exactly 7286 locations are covered. It’s extremely active as well and gets about 1.6 million hits/month!
The listing categories are standard. You’ll see jobs, real estate, personals, vehicles, classes, events, etc. It does have a “Personals” category which is for adults and dating. No direct sexual or escort lists are available though.
Anyone can browse Locanto for free. You can post ads for free after signing up. It has no intrusive ads which makes it a lot more friendly.
Locanto vs. Hoobly Classifieds:

More than a classified ads site. That doesn’t mean it’s not an alternative to Hoobly. It too is available in 7 countries, namely, the US/UK/Australia/Canada/Ireland/New Zealand, and India.
It’s pretty active in terms of users and I’ve seen most categories with a listing posted just a few hours ago. Talking of categories, it lets you trade vehicles, real estate, rentals, jobs, pets, tickets, services, or community-related listings.
I like the listing interface because it shows the price of each listing right away. No need to click on each listing and read through the description. Helps skip everything that’s out of my budget.
It does have ads but they’re not popups and sit quietly in the corner in their banner frames. Its lister profiles are transparent. It shows the date the profile was created and the total number of ads they’ve posted. Helps avoid scams to some extent.
Listings generally include text descriptions and an image. Contact information is often provided in the descriptions. When not available, you can use the in-built “I’m interested” button.
It’s not demanding and lets you view and even contact ad listers without signing up.
Oodle has a big problem though, you can only post after signing up. The big problem is, that sign up requires an active Facebook account.
Do note that some ads on Oodle redirect to American Classifieds, another site like Hoobly that’s only for the U.S.

- Oodle is available in just 7 countries while Hoobly Classified is available almost everywhere.

- Oodle requires an active Facebook account to create a new post/listing, while Hoobly has no such requirements.

2Backpage is an alternative to Backpage. It’s almost identical in terms of user interface and functioning to the now defunct, FBI-seized Backpage. Backpage was a direct Hoobly Classifieds competitor as well.
2Backpage has almost no filter. This means you can use it to view/post listings in adult categories as well. Apart from that it has categories such as dating, real estate, rentals, automotive, jobs, buy/sell/trade, etc.
2Backpage is a pretty active website with over 762K traffic/month (verified via Semrush). These users are why all 2Backpage categories see a constant update of new listings.
You can view ads for free without signing up. Posting your ads is free too but you’ll need to sign up. To sign up, you’ll need a Gmail account.
Posting ads is not free. It may cost as low as 0.10 cents or $3+. This will differ based on the category and exact region. Tier-1 cities (e.g. California costs $2.40+) cost more than tier-3 cities.

The product categories are exactly what you’d expect. Real estate, buy/sell items/gigs/musician/ automotive /rentals/services etc. There are no direct adult listings though. I did find a few completely illegal listings though which tells me you need to be cautious. In my experience, the listings aren’t as well-populated as I’d want them to be.
Registration isn’t required to view or browse the listings but of course, it is for posting ads. It’s free and accepts all e-mails so that isn’t a problem.
Posting ads is free and very simple. You may optionally pay to extend your listening’s duration or visibility.
YesBackpage vs. Hoobly Classifieds
- Both sites refrain from listing “adult” content directly.
- YesBackPage is available in 4 countries while Hoobly Classifieds has a much broader presence.

If you need websites like Hoobly but for the UK, no better option than GumTree. It has a modern interface with more animations and images.
It’s available across all cities in the UK. Listings are primarily thumbnail-based with a product picture, price, and location. Better than texting if you ask me.
It also has an in-built EMI and payment calculator for certain products and categories. I’ve generally found the text descriptions do not offer a direct contact option. You must use the in-built “send message” or “make offer” buttons. Yes, contacting requires sign-up. Posting ads requires registration as well.
It does allow free listings but not in all categories and locations. Paid add-ons do help promote your ad for more exposure but that too is optional.
In terms of available products/services, there are cars & vehicles, for sale, property, jobs, services, community etc.

GumTree vs. Hoobly Classifieds
- Gumtree offers a much more advanced interface than Hoobly Classifieds. It has in-built EMI calculators, “make offer” features, and more.

It’s only available in the U.S.. and for U.S cities. This is why I didn’t list it higher up on this list.
The interface is slightly more modern than HooblyClassifieds as well. Listings generally have solid placeholders for different pieces of information. Text and images are available as well. It doesn’t demand signup for browsing through the site but what makes it special is that even contacting ad listers is free. A form pops up if you click the “contact seller” button. Simply fill it up and you can send a message.
Posting ads does require signing up but it’s free of payments. The listings are more or less the same as well. On BuySellCommunity you can find items such as computers, clothing, electronics, entertainment, health and beauty, home and garden, books and magazines, etc. It also has a unique category called “shops”. It’s more like a local shop directory.
BuySellCommunity vs. Hoobly Classifieds:
