Are you hosting guests at your house this Christmas? I have hosted my family over for Christmas the last few years and it has been a huge success. This year we are planning on having a get together a few days after Christmas since I am planning on having back surgery next week. I went to the store over the weekend to plan for our Christmas gathering and stocked up on all of my holiday essentials. Today, I wanted to share my top 10 holiday essentials for your guests.
Picking the Right Food
When I host Christmas at our house, we always decide on the type of food that we are planning on serving so that I can delegate a few of the items with my family members. This year I am planning on serving my homemade lasagna, bread sticks, and salad. We don't usually serve the traditional food for our Christmas meal.
Ice
Our ice maker stopped working about a year ago and I always buy bagged ice. I usually make sure that I have plenty of bagged ice in my deep freezer. Ice is one of those things that I don't want to run out of because my drinks have to be super cold. I am sure everyone else likes their drinks cold too.
Drinks
I always pick up a variety of sodas, bottle water, and tea so that I have drinks to satisfy everyone's taste buds. Plus, I usually pick up some festive cups too.
Our Favorite Desserts
This is my favorite part because most of the desserts that we serve are usually only served at Christmas time. I love to serve cheesecake, cookies, and other traditional Christmas desserts.
Paper Towels
I always pick up a new package of Viva® Big Roll Paper Towels. They are great for cleaning up spills, wiping up messes, and to clean up your mouth (roll off napkins).
Toilet Paper
Running out of toilet paper when guest are over would be rather embarrassing. I picked up my two favorite brands of toilet paper so that I don't have to worry about running out of toilet paper for a long time. You can find Scott® 1100 Bathroom Tissue and Cottonelle® Toilet Paper Double Rolls at Walmart. Plus, you can use the Ibotta app to save even more money on your holiday essentials.
Plus Rascal, our Elf on the Shelf, decided to set up a game of toilet paper bowling last night too. That silly Elf is always having fun in our house.
Kleenex
I always stock up on Kleenex® too. I want people to feel at home when they come over to my house. I even found these cute Holiday Ovals and Kleenex® Perfect Fit Holiday Canisters which goes perfectly with the Christmas decor in my house.
Medication
This time of year can be unpredictable and I want to make sure that I have a variety of medication on hand in case someone doesn't feel well. I stock my medicine cabinet with Tylenol, Motrin, Zantac, Tums, Benedryl, and Sudafed.
Board Games
After we eat our Christmas dinner, we unwrap our gifts. Then we sit down and play a few of our favorite board games together. This is one of my favorite things to do because I get a chance to catch up with my family and create lasting memories too.
Music
I love playing Christmas music in the background as we eat our meal and open presents. I always play it softly so that we can still hear everyone talk too.
More About Ibotta
Ibotta is an app for your iPhone or Android phone that you can use to save additional money on the things that you buy. I love this app because it helps me save additional money on top of any store savings, store coupons, and manufactures coupons. It is easy to use too. Once you install the app, you simply pick the products that you bought and then scan your receipt. Then you will be asked to verify the product. Once you have over $5.00 in your Ibotta account you can cash out your savings for gift cards or cash.
I was selected for this opportunity as a member of Clever Girls and the content and opinions expressed here are all my own.Do you use Ibotta to save money? What holiday essentials do you need to pick up before Christmas?
