By Dudepins @dudepins

Sci-fi never gets old and we can't really think of a single dude we know who doesn't enjoy the genre (at least one book or at least one movie). A classic cult favorite in almost any form it would come, science fiction is just the right stuff for your weekly dose of fun escapism. Whether you prefer video games, classic films, books or TV shows, sci-fi is definitely cool.

Just like fantasy worlds, only with a most welcome touch of realism. And since TV shows have started to become even more popular than movies, we thought we should put together a list of the best sci-fi TV shows of 2015-2016, just in case you're looking for something new to watch.

Read through and you will hopefully find at least a few cool sci-fi TV shows that you didn't know about. More inspiration for good TV shows is never enough, so happy browsing and happy watching!

Top 10 Best Sci-Fi TV Shows of 2015-2016

1. Black Mirror

Set in a British-style dystopian world, this series featured focused episodes without much relation to each other, besides the common theme. This common theme is the dark relation between humanity and technology, and the multitude of wrong turns this can take. One of the extra cool touches about Black Mirror is the fact that each episode is laden with famous actors (you can totally expect to see people like Jon Hamm making guest appearances as well). The series started in 2011, but it's still going strong in 2016 as well; make time to catch up if you haven't seen it already.

2. The X Files

That's right: the cult classic from our childhoods is making a comeback this year. Fresh new episodes starring the beloved duo of Mulder and Scully will be aired soon. If you're into nostalgic TV watching and pop culture classics, you definitely shouldn't miss the new X Files content upon its release.

3. One-Punch Man

This is probably the coolest TV series of the moment in the dude niche, judging by market trends and its exploding popularity. One-Punch Man tells the animated story of a hero without all the moral entanglements and serious talk (who's being a hero just for fun, basically), and who can defeat most of his enemies with a single punch (hence his superhero name). Sounds kind of stupid? Hell yeah. All the more fun? Definitely.

4. Rick and Morty

Another animated series benefitting from high critical acclaim and which has won multiple awards, Rick and Morty tells the story of a super-genius scientist with the usual agenda you can expect, and his partner in projects, the grandson, who is actually not so bright. The contrast between these two makes for the most delicious geeky humor.

5. Sense 8

This cool show has been an instant ratings hit, and after the first season was released and completed in 2015, everyone is breathlessly expecting the second season scheduled for release in 2017. Sense8 is surely one of the most popular sci-fi TV shows of the moment, and it's about 8 people who suddenly and mysteriously become mentally linked. Perfect strangers in the beginning, the 8 must then work together to survive those who decide to hunt them.

6. The Man in the High Castle

This show can seem to be at first just an alternate history utopia (or, more accurately, a dystopia, considering that Nazi Germany has won WWII and the United States are currently under its domination). But after a few episodes, mysterious images from 'our' history, the correct one, start to be broadcast through certain television channels, and the authorities do their best to keep the secret that challenges their order. The Man in the High Castle is a TV adaptation of a famous book series, and definitely one of the best sci-fi TV shows you can watch.

7. Jessica Jones

If you're a fan of the Marvel universe (and who isn't), this is your next superhero flick to watch. Introducing Jessica Jones, a former super-heroine turned private investigator, this series proves that Marvel considered this character interesting enough to develop through an entire series rather than just a 2 hour movie, the way they usually do it. If we had to name just one as our favorite from the list of best sci-fi TV shows of the moment, this would be it.

8. Forever

A 200-year old man roams the streets of New York City and is trying to figure out for himself how come he seems to be immortal. Hence his job at the city's morgue. Sounds intriguing so far? We surely answer this in the affirmative, and that's why we deemed Forever one of the best choices when it comes to sci-fi TV shows.

9. The Expanse

If you tend to like sci-fi TV shows which take place in space and on other planets, then The Expanse is for you. It's not so much about alien life forms, as it's about political conspiracies, governmental control and Earth's rebellious colony on an asteroid belt.

10. Orphan Black

Another huge hit in last year's ratings, Orphan Black is about a woman discovering a vast conspiracy after witnessing the suicide of a girl who looked just like her. From here on, the plot develops around the topics of clones, genetic manipulations and juicy assassin action.

These were our top picks for the best sci-fi TV shows of the moment. Enjoy!
