The chart above is from a new Public Policy Polling survey -- done between August 18th and 21st of a random national sample of 887 registered voters, with a 3.3 point margin of error.
It shows that far too many Americans say they would prefer to have Jefferson Davis (the white supremacist president of the Confederacy) as president than Barack Obama. That tells me that we are far from solving this nation's problem with racism.
It gets ridiculous when you look at the numbers of Republicans and Trump supporters. Republicans said they would rather have Davis as president by a 15 point margin -- and Trump supporters said that by a 25 point margin. It doesn't look like a big hunk of the GOP (and of Trump supporters) are even trying to hide their racism now.
