Toning Down Intense Hues in New Abstract Painting

By Abstractartbylt @artbylt

After yesterday's painting session, I had too much saturated color in the new abstract painting I was working on.  Today I worked at remedying that by mixing colors with white to tone them down.  The more white, black or gray you add to a color, the more it tones down the intensity of the hue.  I also cut back on the number of intense colors in this painting by covering over a lot of the purple and magenta.

I still consider this canvas "background" and will begin tomorrow to bring it into a more final focus.
