We’re coming together and doing the only thing we know how – make jokes – to raise money for Xander a tough little 2 year-old battling Acute Lymphoblasic Leukemia.

The Asheville Disclaimer and Disclaimer Comedy, Slice of Life Comedy, Laugh Your Asheville Off, Your Only Option, Open Mic Comedy Freakshow, Isis Theater, Charlotte Street Computers are raising money for Xander and his mom and we ask that you come out October 10th to eat, drink, laugh and give a little to provide support and comfort to a great kid fighting a disease that affects the lives millions. All proceeds from the show will go directly to Xander and his mom Chenoa Shannon.

The Reason We’re Coming Together
Xander Kai Valentin. He just turned 2 years old May 2nd and was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia on September 28, 2012. He is currently in remission, but there are just enough cancerous cells remaining that he continues to go through chemotherapy every few weeks. The treatments can get very difficult, but it’s very rare that he doesn’t have a smile on his face. It’s one of those smiles that makes everyone fall in love with him instantly and keeps his mother strong. We’re raising money to help with medical bills and to show our support to his mom and throw some love to the littlest member of our comedy community.

Mo Alexander
Mo Alexander is one of the most complete comics working in clubs and private events around today. Since 1995, his comedic skills have given way to bigger opportunities on television, such as appearances on ABC’s Politically Incorrect with Bill Maher, Comedy Central’s Laugh Riot, the BET staple Comic View and has even made an appearance in Poison’s Bret Michael’s film, Letters from Death Row.

Mo Alexander is the product of Memphis, Tennessee, growing up mere yards from the World Famous Stax Records. Whether it was being raised by his grandmother, Memphis or his Catholic high school upbringing, Mo’s outlook on life is helping him to save the world in his jaded manner.

Growing up on comedy classics, like WC Fields, The Marx Bros., Bob Hope films, George Carlin and old Saturday Night Live were early influences. Mo’s realization of being a stand up comedian comes more from watching things like A&E’s Evening at the Improv, where he thought, “I’m better than these folks, I can do this!” and soon after, he got to a local open mic in Memphis starting with the likes of Kerry White, T.R. Degraw, Dennis Phillipe, and Tony Tone. -http://www.slapthestupid.com/

Should be a good show and for a good cause!
