Story: Tommy’s Honour starts as we meet young golfer Tommy Morris (Lowden) who was due to follow in his father’s footsteps. His father Tom (Mullan) works on a golf course for the wealthy as a caddy. However, when their course decides to host the first open, Tommy goes on to win the tournament.

As Tommy continues his success, he looks to break down the barriers in the game. He looks to conquer England, which would give him bigger prize winnings. However, back home he finds himself dealing with the same stigma of not coming from a wealthy family in the game.

Verdict on Tommy’s Honour

Tommy’s Honour is a sports drama following the story behind Tommy Morris. A man that broke down the class wall in the game of golf and help become one of the most influential figures in changing the sport.

This is an interesting look into the history of one of the people that helped change the game of golf. It shows the ridiculous class system that prevents many people from ever getting a look into playing. This gets to show how the sport helped make the man better and not be dictated by the sport. While it provides a history lesson about the people that founded the modern game that is so popular around the world. However, his story is filled with tragedy even in his battle to become one of the first legends of the game. Jack Lowden is brilliant in the leading role of the movie and he is surrounded by strong performances from the whole cast.

Final ThoughtsTommy’s Honour is an interesting well-acted movie about the birth of a golfing legend.
