Tom Hanks to the Americans: put the mask on!

" It doesn't take long, it's a matter of common sense: put on the mask, respect the social distancing, wash your hands. Those who don't do it should be ashamed"! Tom Hanks is angry, and it has every reason. On the occasion of the press conference for his new film, Greyhound, out on Apple TV +, the actor, who in a few days, on July 9, turns 64, reiterates a very banal concept, that of personal and other safety, pleading with his fellow citizens to do the right thing to flatten the contagion curve, which remains very high in the United States. In fact, many in the country (and not only there) do not follow the most basic hygiene rules to protect themselves and others.

Seeing Tom Hanks altered is not an everyday thing, but the Oscar-winning contagion knows something: in early March he announced to the world that he had contracted Covid-19, together with his wife Rita Wilson. The two were in Australia where Hanks was busy on the set of a biopic about Elvis Presley. After ten days of very annoying symptoms, but without ever having been life threatening, the first two celebs infected with the virus were then cured. The two actors donated their plasma for Covid-19 research.

In the USA, Covid-19 is not yet under control: more than two and a half million Americans infected so far and thousands of new infections and hospitalizations in many states. Yet many refuse to wear the mask, even though health authorities have strongly recommended its use since April. Among these, President Trump, who considers the mask not compatible with his role as leader, while Melania wanted to set a good example. Recently The Donald, perhaps due to the dizzying increase in infections, seems to have reversed, and said that the masks are "a good thing" and that he would have no problem wearing one. Will he set a good example to the nation, like Tom Hanks?
