Tokenz: For Those Who Love Indian Handicrafts

Posted on the 20 March 2021 by Jyoti Arora @Jy0tiAr0ra

In the past few years, I've seen a rise in e-commerce stores related to Indian handicrafts. Whether it is because of the Indian government's push to make people 'vocal for the local' or our undying love for the 'desi' crafts, Indian handicraft products are selling big on online stores. I think this is a great development. It benefits local artisans by providing a new marketplace for their products. It benefits us as well by bringing specialties of different parts of India within our easy reach.

Recently, I came across a delightful e-commerce store that features Indian handicraft products, including jewelry and food items. So, let's check it out.

Tokenz.com

Tokenz is a new website. It started only in 2020 and has the high aim of promoting Indian arts and crafts. It does not have an extensive product variety yet. But its select collection seems to be of good quality and well-chosen. If you love Indian handicraft and like adorning your home with paintings, pottery, brass items, etc., you will find plenty to love at Tokenz.

Web Design

Tokenz website has a clean and uncluttered design. It is also user-friendly. You can easily browse for your desired products using the elegantly designed Navigation Menu. Alternatively, you can use the Search Bar placed at the top left corner.

The homepage displays different categories of products using neat carousels. All product cards show prominent Add to Cart buttons and product prices. Overall, I found the web design very pleasant and easy to use.

Variety

Of course, the variety of products is important for any e-commerce store. As Tokenz is a new website, it doesn't have a wide variety yet. It has several product categories, but the items in most categories are few, compared to other popular e-commerce stores.

As of now, the products here include idols and figurines, paintings, terracotta pots, brass diyas, bandhanwars, perfumes, handmade jewelry, and Zari clutches & purses. Tokenz also sells some food items, including chocolates, cookies, sweets, dry fruits, and herbal tea. Moreover, they have an excellent collection of Khadi products. These include Khadi hair care products, skincare products, healthcare products, and Khadi hampers.

Shop by Occasions

Tokenz makes selecting products for gifting easy. It has a special Occasions section featuring gift items suitable for different festivals. You can browse for gifts for Rakhi, Diwali, Durga Puja, and other major Indian festivals. However, as of now, there is no option to find products as per occasions such as birthdays, anniversaries, etc. I hope these options will be added soon, too.

Quality

I recently purchased an embroidered clutch and some Khadi products from Tokenz. All the Khadi hair care and skincare products that I bought look original. And the purse that I purchased is gorgeous! It surprised me by its fine work and quality. So, until now, I have no complaints against the quality of the products I purchased from Tokenz. They seem to be following good quality control practices.

Checkout, Payment, Shipping, Cancellation:

I feel the Checkout process could be a bit more streamlined. The website says 'free shipping within India.' Yet Tokenz charged me 140 rupees for shipping. I don't know whether I did something wrong during checkout. I must mention here that now whenever I put products in my Cart, it always shows free shipping.

Anyway, I received the products within 3-4 days. They were securely packed and in good order. No complaints there. They do ship internationally too. So if you want to send a gift to your relative or friend living in some other country, you can.

When I checked the Returns & Cancellation page, I noticed that they offer returns and refunds only if you receive the products in damaged or defective condition. So do keep that in mind while shopping at Tokenz.

Also, if you return a product, you'd get a replacement product. If Tokenz does not have the replacement product, only then will they refund your money. And items you purchased on Sale won't be refunded. When you do get a refund, the cost of the return shipping may be deducted from it.

Blog

Tokenz also maintains a fascinating blog with articles related to perfumes, herbal products, Indian festivals, handicraft traditions, etc. I found these blog posts quite informative and engaging. Totally worth a read.

Tokenz Review

Overall, Tokenz is a nice Indian website for purchasing Indian handicrafts and gift items. It also has an excellent collection of Khadi items. However, the website is still new, and product variety is limited. Their Return policy also has some catching up to do.

Tokenz does have some delightful items for the lovers of arts and crafts. The paintings are gorgeous and available in different styles, such as fine art painting, abstract painting, folk paintings, Rajasthan Phad painting, and Odisha Palm Leaf paintings. The brass figurines, handcrafted torans, embroidered purses, handmade jewelry, and other products are all beautiful. If these types of items interest you, tokenz.com is definitely worth checking out.

Disclaimer: I received a gift voucher to try this website but this post is uninfluenced and unbiased. The review is as per my best judgment.
