Where in the world is Matt Lauer? Nobody gives a fuck! NBC is riding a ratings wave since the smug anchor had to forcibly exit stage right in the wake of his pervy behavior.

Variety reports Ann Curry was spotted doing the nae nae as she bought herself something nice at Bloomingdale’s. No, Variety is actually reporting that Today is outperforming Good Morning America for the second week in a row. NBC is usually boasts about how they win in the 25 to 54 demographic (aka the one advertisers care about), but they can now brag about winning overall ratings.

The Savannah Guthrie and Hoda Kotb-helmed Today pulled in an average of 4.58 million viewers overall, compared to GMA’s 4.38 million, and CBS This Morning’s 3.57 million. As we all know, Matt got sent to the curb after a co-worker came forward accusing him of the kinds of shady shit everyone assumed was happening behind the scenes at Studio 1A. Well, maybe not exactly what we assumed…I only just thought he spent his evenings sipping scotch and sleeping with everyone but Mrs. Lauer. In reality, it was much darker. Matt is accused of flashing coworkers, giving one a sex toy, and even assaulting a coworker.

That being said…it doesn’t sound like it turned people off the Today brand. If anything, it made people who waited to see the last hour train wreck with Hoda and Kathie Lee Gifford wake up earlier to see what might happen for the first 72 hours of the Today show. The Variety report implies some of those viewers could just be curious and fade out and go back to GMA, which means someone needs to leak a false story about Kathie doing something inappropriate with a bottle of chardonnay. But she already does that on-air each day by cracking open a bottle at 10AM, so I guess enjoy it while you can, Today!
