2019. The year where SNK and Capcom revived their forgotten franchises, the remake of Resident Evil 2 hailed as a surreal survival horror enigma and Battle Royale games didn't remain mere fads. An extensive launch lineup of Nintendo Switch games has grabbed the attention of many but so has the near possible release of PlayStation 5 and Microsoft's upcoming cloud gaming platform Microsoft Project xCloud. Gamers are anticipating to surround themselves with a galore of novel titles while some of you must have stacked pre-order lineups.
Here are the games to look forward to in 2020.
1. Doom Eternal
Credits: steamBethesda Software's DOOM is no longer a blob of pixels. The hellish remake of the 1995 game brings back the Doomslayer pulling colossal guns and blazing away. Doom Eternal unfolds a similar story of a hell-ridden world taken over by demons but this time amplified with more action and more guns to reload. The game is also expected to have a multiplayer mode. So make sure you connect your gaming system to high speed internet and blast demons to bits with your friends.
2. Final Fantasy VII Remake
Credits: Square EnixThe clutches of evil are lurking in the city of Midgar where Shinra schemes to drain the planet's Lifestream and attain absolute control over the world. Could a former SOLDIER and now a rogue member of AVALANCHE, strike again to take down the notorious Shinra Corporation and their very own abomination, Sephiroth.
3. The Last of Us 2
Credits: PlayStationNaughty Dog brought forward a heart-wrenching story of survival to the video game realm. The sound of a Bloater prowling close in The Last of Us was enough to drive fear of the Cordyceps fungus into us. Surprisingly enough, the infection actually exists but is far from turning humans into mindless lumps of bloaters. In The Last of Us Part 2, Ellie has no choice but to yield away her sanity and fight off the infection.
4. Cyberpunk 2077
Credits: steamKeanu Reeves is in Cyberpunk 2077, enough said. Set in a dystopian world, CD Projekt Red, developer of the Witcher series, didn't stay restricted to its half-mythical and historical roots. Cyberpunk 2077 enters a new spectrum of gaming and surrounds the gameplay with psychedelic vibes all over. Triple-A titles releases are aplenty but this game is going to set the approval bar too high for all the games to come in 2020.
5. Resident Evil 3
Credits: steamThe arch pursuer of S.T.A.R.S, T-Type tyrant Nemesis creeps Raccoon City amidst a massive virus breakout to annihilate the remaining S.T.A.R.S members. The gruesome persona of Nemesis back in 1999 spooked gamers without fail. The 2020 remake of Resident Evil 3 teases the comeback of Nemesis and the violent mutations are only going to get uglier.
