Football season is in full swing and you want to gather up a few friends to go with, why not throw a pre-game party before the main event, right in the parking lot! It might sound overwhelming thinking of using only the tailgate of your truck or car, but with some tips and tricks we have you covered, from the menu down to the spot selection for your vehicle to make sure you host the perfect tailgate party!

For an easy and low-stress menu, bacon-wrapped cheese-stuffed hotdogs are the delicious way to go. This will be easy to pull off in a parking lot and most of the work can be done at home. Instead of having a boring hotdog, stuffing it with cheddar cheese and adding that extra meat (who doesn't love bacon?) will keep it interesting. Make sure the hotdogs are prepared by slicing each down the center and inserting a cheddar cheese stick. You can then wrap the bacon around the hotdog to make sure the cheese stick stays inside the hotdog. Add a toothpick to hold the bacon in place to keep it looking put together. Store them in the fridge and take them with you on the day of the game!

Another nice side dish to accompany the hotdogs that can also be prepped easily at home the night before is macaroni and cheese! This version of mac n cheese will require even less time and effort because no baking is required. The elbow macaroni should be cooked in a pot (follow instructions on infographic). While that is happening, you can cook the sauce in the mean time. In another pot, add oil and butter and cook over medium heat. For about 3 minutes, whisk in flour and stir. Then you can add milk and cheddar cheese while whisking (make sure you mix until it turns into a light brown.) Lastly add salt, pepper, dry mustard and chili powder to the mixture and continue stirring. Once cooked, add the mac 'n' cheese into an aluminum tin and cover it. Store this in the fridge and you're ready to pull it out the next day for your party.

So now that you have your meal prepared and ready to go, what about everything you must pack in your car? First, stay organized and make sure you don't forget anything by creating a checklist! You will need a grill, some charcoal, lighter, folding tables/chairs, napkins, eating utensils, grilling utensils, cooler with ice for drinks, bottle opener, speakers for music, trash bags and finally, your game tickets!

You should go early enough to get a good parking spot and in case you are expecting some rain, opt for parking next to a tree. Also, since you know people will be enjoying different drinks and beverages make sure you're not parked too far or too close from a port-a-potty!

The first thing you should do to get started is turn on the grill when you've arrived. Make sure you bring some newspaper with you to put underneath a full charcoal chimney and light it up with a lighter. The coals can be dumped onto one of the grill after 10 minutes.

Once the food is off the grill, make sure the fire is out and close all the vents. Don't wait until the last minute to roll your charcoal container over to the hot charcoal drum to dump them, because it takes around 25 minutes for the grill to cool off before you pack it back into your car or truck. You want to make sure you have enough time to pack and clean everything up before you go watch the game!
