Minnesota’s Tiny Moving Parts have released the video for ‘Applause’. It comes ahead of the release of their new album, ‘Swell’ (which you can order via BSM here). Intelligent math-pop in the vein of Minus the Bear or previous touring partner Into It. Over It., the song has a stop-start celebratory feel in its irresistible hooks although the subject in the lyrics is bleak: ‘I want to give up. We are the overcast that refuse to pass every afternoon when the sun left’; ‘Please take me back’; ‘It hurts to be reminded I want to give up’. This is offset by the upturn in tempo as it edges towards its final anthemic seconds and the song is so short, it leaves you wanting so much more as you give the band a big hand.
