Time for Express Entry Next Draw

Posted on the 09 June 2022 by Richard Peirce @TalCoWW

The draw of Express Entry, Canada’s most popular immigration program, takes place every two weeks. But, after Covid-19, Canada stopped Express Entry draw for foreign skilled workers in December 2020. Canada started focusing only on those candidates who were planning to immigrate to Canada through CEC (Canadian Experience Class) or PNP (Provincial Nominee Program). But now there is good news for Express Entry aspirants as the Canadian government has planned to resume Express Entry for foreign immigrants. In this blog, it is predicted that when the Express Entry next draw is going to happen.

Time for Express Entry Next DrawWhat is an Express Entry Program?

The Express Entry program is the most sought-after immigration program that is offered by the Canadian government. The Canadian government launched this program to make the immigration process even simpler for the skilled immigrants. Through this immigration program, Canada fills the shortage of skilled workers in the country. There are 3 different sub programs under Express Entry:

  1. Federal Skilled Worker Program
  2. Federal Skilled Trade Program
  3. Canadian Experience Class

Process of Express Entry:

Candidates who are planning to apply for this program, should first check if they are eligible or not for the program. For that, the candidates need to score 67 points out of 100.

Once they are eligible for the program, they will have to create the Express Entry profile. In that profile, all the required details should be filled e.g. age, education qualification, language proficiency, work experience, adaptability.

Candidates will get CRS points based on their profile. If they score more than the cut-off in the Express Entry draw then they will receive ITA (invitation to apply) for Canada PR.

Why Canada stopped Express Entry for Foreign Skilled Workers?

In 2020, when the pandemic happened, the world stopped and so did Canada immigration. Canada was concerned about its citizens after the pandemic and decided to stop immigration of foreign skilled workers through its federal immigration program. Canada was organising Express Entry draws for only those candidates who applied for immigration through any PNP or CEC. But now the in the Express Entry next draw, Canada will start focusing on the foreign skilled workers. In last Express Entry draw, 4,500 ITAs were issued and the cut-off was 470.

Canadian immigration authorities recently confirmed that Canada intends to resume Express Entry for foreign nationals from July onwards. The express entry draw happening in the month of July is taking place after 20 months, with positive changes. The biggest change happening is the reduction in the processing time to 6 months only.
