Thursday Night Box Office: ‘Stars’ Leads with 8.2M, Outgrossing X-Men

You heard right. The Fault In Our Stars opened on Thursday night to a gross bigger than when X-Men: Days Of Future Past hit theatres. That does include the inflated ticket price for the A Night Before Our Stars event, which sold at $25 a pop, but it also still indicated the massive fan demand for this film. It is worth noting that #tfiostogether is trending on twitter right now for the US.

Edge Of Tomorrow opened to 1.8M, which isn’t mindblowing, but it isn’t a franchise film, and getting people to show up the night before it opens was always going to be hard for this film. I don’t think the lower end gross will factor into the weekend much. Tonight will be the real test for the Tom Cruise pic.
