Three persons were arrested by the officers of Mannar Police Narcotics Bureau transporting 166 kilogrammes of Kerala cannabis worth over Rs.50 million brought from India to Mannar by sea. Police say that the arrested suspects are residents of Weli-Oya.
A secret compartment was prepared in the back of the cab and this cannabis stock was hidden there.There were 56 bags, police said. The arrested suspects have said during questioning that they were taking this stock of cannabis to Trincomalee. Police believe that this stock of cannabis was being transported to Colombo.
