By Sammycx @sammycx

While many trends come and go, certain pieces stand the test of time and come back year after year. These staple items should be part of any woman's wardrobe, capsule or normal, and will add an instant dose of style to any outfit. It's important to spend time and invest in key pieces that will always be considered stylish, in order to curate a long-lasting and sustainable wardrobe, from a great collection of eyewear and accessories to skirts, dresses and outerwear. Here are three staple, must-have pieces to have in your autumn 2020 collection to make it easier to get dressed every day this season with minimal effort.

The Trench

An undeniable classic, the trench is a timeless style staple that looks good every single year no matter the trends. The perfect transitional piece, trenches are perfect come sunshine or rain for those chillier autumn days when there is a nip in the air, and the wind is howling. They also make you look chic in an instant no matter what you are wearing underneath, and go with just about everything from skirts, to dresses to jeans and a t-shirt, elevating and really pulling your look together. A classic beige design is extremely versatile and is the perfect choice of outerwear to layer over almost any color and style, suiting virtually everyone. However, if beige isn't really your thing, the good news is that the trench comes in many style variations and a multitude of colours such as deep khaki and forest greens, rich navy's or cool-toned greys, so there is something for everyone. If you really want to make a statement and be on trend this autumn, go for a leather style trench that is bound to turn heads.

Leather trousers

Leather is autumn and winter's coolest fabric, instantly adding an edgy, yet glamorous, look and feel to any outfit. So ditch the leggings and jeans in favour of this season's hero piece instead - some leather trousers. An autumn/winter wardrobe staple, the leather trouser is incredibly versatile and can be dressed up or down depending on your needs and the occasion. Wear them during the day for a twist on office wear, to lunch with friends on the weekend, or even just to pop into the shops and wear tucked with chunky knits and trainers for a casual feel. Alternatively dress yours up for a glam evening look with some heels, jewelry and blouse to elevate it to the next level. From skinny and straight fits to a baggy jogger, culotte and wide-legged styles, alongside cropped lengths, there is a leather trouser for everyone, so there is no excuse not to invest in a pair and try out the trend for yourself for a classic, chic, but super cool, look.

Knitted dresses and skirts

For a long time, knitwear automatically equalled jumpers and cardigans, but not anymore. The knitted dress has been around for a while now, granted, but it's set to be the hero piece for autumn 2020 and a real wardrobe staple. As we are spending more and more time indoors, fashion is now focused on comfort, and the take on the knit dress that we've seen drop into both the designer shops and the high street is an elevated way to keep warm, comfy, and stylish at the same time. Midi length fitted styles are the knitted dress of the year, and if you can find one with a square or interesting neckline, then extra style points for you! Not only will this versatile piece keep you stylish and warm, but it can also be styled up in many different ways layered with jackets, blazers, leather and coats. We are also seeing a lot of knitted skirts around - a great alternative if you are after something a little bit different.
