The Kalutara South Police have initiated an investigation into the actions of a person who threatened Police officers who warned him against riding a bicycle at night without a headlight. The suspect, together with two of his friends who are businessmen by profession, had allegedly threatened the Police personnel on duty were arrested in this connection.
Police Sergeant Jeevaka and Constable Madhusanka attached to Kalutara South Police Station while on motorcycle patrol yesterday (18) detected a person riding a push cycle in an unsafe manner without a headlight and stopped it at a roundabout on Galle Road.
The Police officers advised him to ride the bicycle with a light on at night. Here, the cyclist argued with the Police officers, attacking their motorcycle and yelling that there is no such law. He refused to heed the advice of the Police personnel on duty and made a call on his mobile phone to his friends who had arrived at the scene and also began to argue with the Police.
A senior Police officer said that after these officers informed their superiors,the cyclist and his two friends were arrested.
