After watching Captain America: Civil War, a guy behind me said something that angered me. I was instantly hurt and wanted to hit him with my Captain America: Civil War tin can from SM Snack Time. But I am not that kind of person. Plus violence is not good people. Never ever resort to violence.
Good thing his friends did not agree with him as well as the other people who were also walking towards the cinema exit. The guy said,
"If Batman v Superman's story was shallow, Captain America: Civil War is even shallower."
Lacking Depth
To be clear, I am not going to compareBatman v Superman: Dawn of Justice with Captain America: Civil War because they are different and great in their own way.
Now going back. It's cool if he or you did not enjoy the film but to say it is shallow would be ridiculous. I know and accept that people have different tastes. But if you are watching a superhero film and think they're shallow, clearly you're not part of their target audience.
However, if you are following the Marvel Cinematic Universe and say CACW is shallow only means one thing. You need to re-watch every film Marvel made. Maybe then you will understand and see the character developments as well as plot points.

For me, the point where the plot thickened was in the Avengers: Age of Ultron (2015). When the Avengers was released in 2012, there was a balance of action and fun.
With Avengers: Age of Ultron, the film still had that balance but the universe became even bigger and possibilities endless.
If you are able to see that, I am sure you will also start to see that super hero films can also be deep. And you will also start to feel what probably most Marvel fans have felt while and after watching Captain America: Civil War.
Friends vs. Friends
Like the rest of Marvel's films, CACW also had the humour, great action sequences, and surprises. As expected, it was very well put together. But this time, Marvel added a little bit more - a roller coaster of emotions. There was sorrow and grief even betrayal.
From the mighty Avengers, we saw how they were split in two.
General Thaddeus 'Thunderbolt' Ross: Captain, while a great many people see you as a hero, there are some who prefer the word vigilante. You've operated with unlimited power and no supervision. That's something the world can no longer tolerate.
We saw how each decided to choose a side.
General Thaddeus 'Thunderbolt' Ross: There will be consequences.
We saw their strengths and weaknesses.
Natasha Romanoff: I know how much Barnes means to you... Stay at home. You'll only make this worse.
We saw how they stood for what they believe in.
Steve Rogers: Sorry, Tony. You know I wouldn't do this if I had any another choice. But he's my friend.
Tony Stark: So was I.
It was difficult to watch our two mighty heroes fight one another. It was heartbreaking.
Tony Stark: You don't deserve that! My father made that shield!
The audience were finally able to see the lowest point of the Earth's mightiest heroes. My heart was greatly pierced. And this made Captain America: Civil War the greatest film thus far!
