An alien invasion comes to one man's doorstep in the form of a story-creature, followed by death and rebirth in a transformed Earth, in this Tor.com Original science fiction tale from Jeff VanderMeer, the New York Times best-selling author of the Southern Reach trilogy.

I've not read much by VanderMeer. The audiobook of Borne is amazing and I've seen and loved the movie version of Annihilation. I definitely need to read more by this author. I really enjoyed this story. There's something beautiful and weird about it. The story is narrated by someone who is taken over and gradually muted by an alien parasite. The man dwells on what happens to him as he transforms and what happens to earth as the alien works its will. The story is strange at times, full of beautiful, surreal prose. There's a definite Lovecraftian feel about it. Well worth a listen.
