This is the Way I Brush My Teeth

This is the way I brush my teeth

I took the longest time to instill a brush-teeth routine in the little one. The thought of giving up did cross my mind many time. But somehow I managed to persevere, maybe because the thought of him being toothless during his preschool scares me (I knows this sound really odd, but I am afraid he would get ostracised in school if he doesn't have teeth/ or have browning teeth).

Just some background, for mothers who may be stuck in the same predicament as me. My little one drinks 1-2 bottles of milk before knocking out for the night. It was quite impossible to break this habit (but at least he is not on the pacifier, so one less item to worry about). It still is, by the way. We only managed to make him brush his teeth before that bottle of milk and the first thing in the morning when he wakes up

It is a tiny step, but I feel like I need applaud myself for this milestone so that I can press on. Haha. He started off being really adverse. He didn't want to his new toothbrush, which looked a lot more like our adult toothbrush than his old teething toothbrush (read about our review here). This new toothbrush was from the same brand - Marcus & Marcus Palm Grasp Toothbrush ($15.90).
There was nothing really wrong with it. It came in a pair (1 long and 1 short) with a shield for extra protection. It was easy to hold and the bristles were soft. But he treated it more like a toy. Toothpaste is out of the question (and still is). The only thing that made him change his mind was this lovely song.
Like most parents, I am not really into giving the child a phone to watch videos after videos. This is the only exception. Because the monsters did such a good job of showing them how to clean their teeth, his actions are pretty proper too! He does get distracted sometimes and he would be watching instead of brushing. Usually, I would remind him to move his hands like the monsters and he would resume.
Sharing this because this made brushing teeth so much more enjoyable and easy. :D
