Things to Do in Bali Trip: My Food & Shopping Tips

By Dr.jenifer Sayyed @SayyedJenifer

Bali’s a treasure trove waiting to be uncovered. With its vibrant shops and mouth-watering food, there’s something for everyone.

When our Bali trip was executed, I was very excited to explore the Bali cuisine, shopping places and the Balinese foot massage.

I have compiled a list of my top tips for experiencing the culinary delights and retail therapy that Bali has to offer.

Here are some of my recommendations for making the most out of your Bali trip in terms of food and shopping.

Treat Yourself to a Foot Massage

After a long day of sightseeing and shopping, there’s no better way to unwind than with a relaxing foot massage.

On our last day, After a long day of walking and a tasty lunch, I treated myself to a visit to Alona Spa at Ubud market for a heavenly foot massage. It left me feeling totally refreshed and revitalized.

The skilled therapists used traditional techniques to soothe tired feet and alleviate muscle tension, making it a perfect way to pamper ourself during our Bali vacation. That one hour felt so relaxing and rejuvenating esp after the lunch.

Experience Local Cuisine

One of the highlights of Bali for me was definitely the delicious local cuisine. I couldn’t get enough of the Nasi Goreng (a delicious rice dish ), Mi Goreng (flavorful noodle dish)? and Mie Ayam. Plus they serve all halal food only.

I made sure to enjoy these authentic dishes for lunch and dinner because I knew I wouldn’t have them again after my Bali trip.

Discover Indian Restaurants

If you’re a vegetarian or just adore Indian food, Bali has some fantastic Indian restaurants that will definitely hit the spot for you.

During our visit to Ubud market, we noticed that all the restaurants offered halal options, but many also had pork on the menu. Since my husband wasn’t comfortable with that, we decided to dine at Bollywood Indian Cuisine instead.

Visit cafes

Bali boasts a lively cafe culture, offering a range of charming and one-of-a-kind cafes to explore. During our trip, we stopped by must-visit spots like Kopi Zeen Cafe in Kuta, Bun Bali Cafe, and Dharma Coffee & Juice in Ubud market.

Trust me, you won’t want to miss out on checking out these cafes when in Bali!

Save money by shopping at gift shops & supermarkets

When it comes to shopping in Bali, there are plenty of options to choose from. For souvenirs and gifts, consider shopping at gift shops and supermarkets like Krisna Oleh Oleh, Bintang Supermarket, and Cening Bagus Gift Shop. These stores offer a wide range of affordable and unique items that are perfect for taking home as mementos of your trip.

I personally recommend avoiding shopping at local markets as they can be quite pricey and time-consuming due to the need for bargaining. By shopping at these gift shops and supermarkets, you can save both time and money while still finding great souvenirs to bring back with you.

As this was our Bali and Kuala Lumpur trip, I didn’t do much shopping in Bali because I was saving it for Kuala Lumpur. Little did I know, KL turned out to be more expensive than Bali!

Therefore, I highly recommend checking out Bintang Supermarket in Ubud market if you’re looking to shop for skincare, food, and other essentials. I visited another supermarket, but Bintang had the best prices.

Conclusion: Enjoy Your Bali Adventure

Bali offers a magical blend of shopping and food that leaves a mark on every visitor. So, pack your bags and prepare for an unforgettable adventure filled with flavours, sights, and treasures. Bali is waiting for you!
