I really, really loved this novella. The front cover is amazing, creepy as hell. I knew I was going to enjoy what lay inside. I was not disappointed. This is a dark, twisted tale that preys on Vampire lore crossed with the very real horrors of high school with a sparkling of obsessive love. I loved Hettie, her determination to save the object of her obsession and the crazy length's she goes to are beautifully written. The object of her obsession turns out to be pretty horrible. Isn't first love always a little disappointing? I loved the ending. It took me by surprise and was delightfully horrific and funny as well. I've never read Grau before and need to seek out more of his work.
