These Japanese Dolls Are Cloned from Humans

Posted on the 18 May 2013 by Ningauble @AliAksoz

This is not a twister humor or a bad joke… It’s a real, custom, 3D printed doll which is cloned from a real human’s head.

The cloning service is popular among some Japanese women looking to preserve that special moment in their lives, such as their wedding day by cloning hair and makeup and even the dress they wore.

This guy wanted to “immortalize” himself with a custom doll. A bunch of digital SLR cameras all around him took photos of his head and then a big printer made layers of ink which harden in a tray of plaster. And the clone is born … Then they stuck on the body of a Star Wars figure. The price for this is around $1,300.

Welcome to the Clone Factory in Akihabara, Japan.

It’s really cool to have a figure of yourself in a Stormtrooper body although those custom dolls may haunt you later on…
