I rarely read fiction set in contemporary Hong Kong and the setting for this book intrigued me. I thought it would offer me something a little bit different. It took a few chapters to get into the book. The opening chapters are confusing at times and it takes a while to scene set and start to make sense. Once I settled into the rhythm of the book, and the nuances of the characters and their lives I really started to enjoy myself. I loved the setting; Hong Kong is really vivid and memorable. I fell a little in love with the city. The author uses a lot of flashbacks which gradually reveal the links between events in the past and all of the character who have similar backgrounds. Despite a shaky start, this is worth sticking with.
