The World’s Oldest Hotel- Hōshi Ryokan

Hōshi (法師) is a ryokan (Japanese traditional inn) in the Awazu Onsen area of Komatsu, in Ishikawa Prefecture, Japan. Founded in 718, Nishiyama Onsen Keiunkan. Cited by Guinness World Records as the oldest hotel in the world (as well as the world’s oldest continuously-operating business), this ryokan, or traditional Japanese inn, has been owned by 52 generations of the same family.
