If you’re looking for tips on how to travel light, don’t ask Empress Marie Louise of Austria who used to travel with this ornate 120 piece travel kit. In addition to the basics, it also contains dinner service for two, a toilet set, writing instruments, a thimble for sewing, a screwdriver, tape measure and dental instruments. What no duct tape? Not only was she prepared for whatever came her way on her travels, but she did it with style. The contents are made of a variety of gold plated silver, gold, mother of pearl and tortoise shell. Aren’t everybody’s? The keyhole also hid secret compartments, making me curious as to what the Empress wanted to hide, since there weren’t any condoms back in the 1800s. What may just be the world’s most luxurious travel kit, can be seen in the Treasury of the Residence Museum in Munich. How does your travel kit compare?
