I met this lady, Julie Kertesz, last Tuesday in London. She and I have been commenting on each other’s pictures in Flickr since 2005, when she was 70 and I was 32. She is now 82 and I’m 44 — lots has happened to both of us in the past 12 years.
I decided before I left for the UK that I needed to meet her on this trip. We arranged a meeting point in Canary Wharf and spent a few hours together. It will be obvious once you read this article why I felt so compelled to have a conversation with her and connect in person:

The world needs more people like Julie Kertesz… and less like — well, I’m sure you know some people the world could do without.
