Story: The Wolf Hour starts as we meet a reclusive author June Leigh (Watts). Living in an apartment building in New York during the Summer of Sam. She never leaves, having her food delivered, with nobody outside of her sister Margot (Ehle) visiting her.
June starts to find her buzzing ringing at random times, believing she is being harassed by an unknown threat. While the city is start to point fingers around every corner.
Thoughts on The Wolf Hour
The Wolf Hour follows a woman around her apartment, as she looks to deal with her past in hopes of finding her future. It is hint that someone pressing the buzzer is just annoying her, only for nothing come of this.
The background of the Summer of Sam doesn’t seem to make a big impact in the story either. This is a story that doesn’t seem to go anywhere. It is just a series of events that happen to an author struggling to write her next novel.
Naomi Watts does what she can to make this a more interesting film, but even she struggles to carry this film. This is a film that does seem to want to have more happening, only it ends up feeling flat and almost pointless for what we go through.
