The Wicked Deep
Welcome to the cursed town of Sparrow…
Where, two centuries ago, three sisters were sentenced to death for witchery. Stones were tied to their ankles and they were drowned in the deep waters surrounding the town.
Now, for a brief time each summer, the sisters return, stealing the bodies of three weak-hearted girls so that they may seek their revenge, luring boys into the harbor and pulling them under.
Like many locals, seventeen-year-old Penny Talbot has accepted the fate of the town. But this year, on the eve of the sisters’ return, a boy named Bo Carter arrives; unaware of the danger he has just stumbled into.
Mistrust and lies spread quickly through the salty, rain-soaked streets. The townspeople turn against one another. Penny and Bo suspect each other of hiding secrets. And death comes swiftly to those who cannot resist the call of the sisters.
But only Penny sees what others cannot. And she will be forced to choose: save Bo, or save herself.

You can really tell when I'm enthralled in a book. How? Well, the first sign is that I don't want to put it down. The second, is that I'm so lost in the story that my hearing shuts down. Huh? Sorry? Did you say something? The third and probably biggest sign, is that I'm recommending it before I've even finished it. That's exactly what happened with The Wicked Deep.
When I first read the description for this book, I was truly excited. This was right up my alley. The publisher's description of 'Hocus Pocus meets Practical Magic' seemed pretty on point, and... those just happened to be two of my favorite movies. I was basically guaranteed to like this book.
So it was no surprise when I not only liked it, but loved it. From the first few pages, I was hooked. What was the curse? What was the legend? What happened to her father? Who is Penny, I know she's more than just a local. I had so many questions that I wanted to be answered and that's when I knew this was going ot be a 'this isn't getting put down' moment.
It pulls you in from the very start and is a page turned until the very end. I recommend this for fans of Witch stories for sure.

Thank to Simon and Schuster Canada for the ARC of this book.
