Plot: Four men who form a neighborhood watch group as a way to get out of their day-to-day family routines find themselves defending the Earth from an alien invasion.
Verdict: Standard
Story: We start by meeting our everyday man Evan who works around the community bring the people together to become closer, until a night watchman is killed at his place of employment. Following this event Evan starts his own neighbourhood watch to find the killer, but his group of misfits struggle to work the way he wants. While they finally get their first bust they celebrate only to hit something that could be the answer the questions. This leads to the idea that we could enter into an extra-terrestrial encounter as the group needs to save the world from an invasion.
When you see the main cast you know the level of comedy you are going to get, over used sex puns that go on too long for their own good. We do get a group that all have solid real world problems that they are all dealing with in their own way. The alien storyline works well for the story as the attempted comedy side to it all works well. Having the team come together in a neighbourhood watch works to because it shows how different type of people can work together. In the end we get a solid story that ends up using old boring jokes that ruins the flow of the film. (5/10)
Actor Review
Ben Stiller: Evan everyday community man who is involved in many clubs as well as manages a local commercial store. After one of his employees is murder he starts a neighbourhood watch, all along while he seems to push his wife away. He has to overcome his own problems to pull the team together to save the world. Ben gives a solid performance in the role which you would expect to see him in. (6/10)
Vince Vaughn: Bob over the top reacting part of the team who wants to make the watch more of a freedom from his family commitments and have a fun night out. He will do anything to protect his teenage daughter. Vince gives a solid performance that you expect to see him in too. (6/10)
Jonah Hill: Franklin after failing high school and the police academy he joins the watch to prove he was worthy of being part of the force. Jonah gives a solid performance but sometimes ends up being the awkward one of the group and that can get uncomfortable to watch. (5/10)
Richard Ayoade: Jamarcus British man who has just moved to the area and sees joining the watch as a chance to make new friends while hiding a secret. Good performance from Richard who seems to get the extra laughs and is a breath of fresh air to the frat pack. (7/10)
Rosemarie DeWitt: Abby Evan’s wife who wants to have a baby but is clearly getting tired of second to all of his clubs. Rosemarie gives a solid performance but like most of the female characters in these films rarely gets screen time. (5/10)
Support Cast: These comprise of doubters and potential undercover aliens, each adds to laughs and keeps you guessing to who could be an alien.
Director Review: Akiva Schaffer – Does an ok job with the alien side but lets the comedy jokes go too long and drag the story down. (5/10)

Chemistry: Good chemistry between the neighbourhood watch even if it takes time for it all to shine through. (8/10)
Settings: The settings work for the film but also use of commercial over does parts of it. (7/10)
Special Effects: Solid special effects used to create the aliens and incidents. (7/10)
Suggestion: I think if you are a fan of the cast you will enjoy this but otherwise you will struggle to enjoy this. (Try It)
