In one last attempt to save humanity, the minds come together to create engines that will power the Earth to move through space. Zhou Zhezhi’s (Li) project has one goal and the team put together must do everything to make it happen. Tu Hengyu (Lau) leads the mission and knows the consequences if they fail.
However, the bigger discussion shows the problems humanity must face. Now the team must complete the final parts of the project, as the world is facing an unknown future and disruption is going to make everything difficult.
Verdict on The Wandering Earth II (Liu lang di qiu 2)
The Wandering Earth II is a sci-fi action disaster movie. It follows the events before the first movie, following the events that led to the situation of the Earth traveling through space. This sees them going through a string of difficult challenges to unite the planet for any potential future. All the while, the people involved know the importance of success.
This is a big over-the-top prequel that breaks up the years leading up to the events of the first movie. It shows us the different incidents which caused problems and how everyone overcame them. This does make this a little bit harder to watch because we jump through a lot of moments of peril. Each one becomes more and more challenging as different ideas are tested. Even if the social commentary doesn’t get enough focus. However, if you like a big over-the-top disaster movie, you are going to enjoy the science-breaking ideas.
