Plot: Lost in a hostile forest, the Marquis d’Urfé, a noble emissary of the King of France, finds refuge in the home of a strange family.

Story: The Vourdalak starts when a noble emissary Marquis Jacques Antoine Saturnin d’Ufre (Klein) finds himself lost in the woods. He searches for shelter with a strange family and meets Sdenka (Labed). She guides him on his journey, teaching him to accept the different in the world.
Marquis finds himself in the middle of a ceremony which pushes the limits to what he was expecting. He learns more about the darker arts and the connection to the occult, on hopes of returning to his noble home in France.
Verdict on The Vourdalak
The Vourdalak is a horror tale following a noble French man who finds himself lost in the woods and is welcomed in by a strange family. He learns about their different lifestyle, which leaves him questioning reality and his sanity.
This is a strange movie and one that pushes the limits of what people would consider acceptable in a different environment. While it isn’t controversial, it is more about how Marquis questions what is happening. It has a unique setting, which helps drive the uncomfortable storytelling process. The use of the occult helps make things seem stranger than you are expecting and by the end, you will be surprised with the outcome.
