Recap
The movie follows four friends who receive an unusual voicemail before a series of spooky encounters. They must work together to understand what is haunting them if they are to find a way to free their souls.
Best Parts
The idea behind the movie is really interesting and has plenty of layers surrounding it. It uses the connection to create a chilling environment for the characters. Elsewhere, the bond between the friends are great with the performances helping us feel connected to the characters.
Worst Parts
While the story is interesting and the idea has so much potential, the scare feels more empty. They don’t seem to hit home to any truly scary level, despite an excellent introduction to the moments. Elsewhere, it feels strange that Demia puts up with Mark daily, let alone planning to marry him.
Final Thoughts –The Voicemail has a creepy story, but struggles to hit the scares.
